Background

CARTER OOSTERHOUSE, 28, shot to fame in 2003 on the mega popular TLC series TRADING SPACES and TRADING SPACES: FAMILY as well as NBC’s TRADING SPACES: BOYS V. GIRLS. Aside from his work on TLC, Carter is a contributing correspondent for the #1 morning show TODAY on NBC and the face of Nautica’s popular new men’s fragrance Nautica Voyage. Last season, Carter was a contributor on NBC’s THREE WISHES with co-host Grammy Award-winner Amy Grant. Carter and Amy led a team of experts to a small town to help make the hopes and unbelievable dreams come true for deserving people.

From his first appearance on TRADING SPACES, audiences took notice of the hunky 6’3″ carpenter who looked more like a runway model than a guy who puts shelving in your den. Along with JOHNNY DEPP, NICK LACHEY, L.L. COOL J, DEREK JETER, and MATTHEW PERRY; People magazine featured Carter in their “Sexiest Man Alive” issue (November 2003).

In the past few months, Carter has graced the cover with a feature in Home Magazine and has received major feature coverage in TV Guide, Star magazine, US Weekly, Organic Style, Catalina magazine, Cargo magazine and USA Today among others.

Like the rest of America, Carter has charmed OPRAH and the talk show maven was delighted to have him on the show repeatedly. Audiences may have also caught him several times on THE TONY DANZA SHOW, ON-AIR with RYAN SEACREST, INSIDE EDITION, CBS SUNDAY MORNING and EXTRA among other television outlets. Last year, he won $20,000 on CELEBRITY POKER for the Los Angeles based charity COACH for KIDS.

Born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan, Carter is the youngest of four children.

A natural athlete, Carter excelled in sports and attended Central Michigan University on a rugby scholarship. He continues to be an avid sports enthusiast and counts basketball, kayaking, horseback riding, hockey, sailing, baseball and rugby among his favorites.

After earning his B.A. in nutrition and communication, Carter relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a modeling and acting career. Producers soon tapped him to join the TRADING SPACES cast for their fourth season.

Carter is happy to lend his time and talent to several children’s charities including New York’s Books for Kids, COACH FOR KIDS and the Fulfillment Fund in Los Angeles.

When not on the road with the shows, Carter makes his home in California/Michigan
